So often, we are constantly adding things to the task list as SMM.

What tasks will you either hand off to a Social Team member, or remove from your program for 2024?

I will be handing off Hiring posts, writing emails, and creating LinkedIn events for our program in 2024 to another member of our social team in order to make space for the new tasks I’m taking on.

Those sound like great opportunities to give your team member a chance to build their resume while also freeing up some time for your priorities.

I’m working with our Internal Communications team to find ways for their team (or perhaps a contractor) to take on our Associate spotlight posts, as it takes a lot of time to collate and create those spotlights, but aside from the time, the actual content is easy enough to assemble, as it is primarily a photo and quote with some introductory text to tie it to our various social campaigns.

Removing that time (to send out interview questions, follow up with Associates, collate responses, review each response to find appropriate quotes to include, putting in Creative requests for the photos to be formatted, etc.) from my task list will open up my availability to focus on creating more video content opportunities (video tends to be higher performing content), either for spotlights or other priorities, for our social media channels.

Great question! This reminds me to keep things rotating.

Some smaller items that tend to easily turn into busy work like coordinating and organizing copy as well as some regular reporting. Short form video is one I’d love to hand off whenever possible 😅, I admit its hard to keep up with in the grand scheme and I have found certain entry-level positions find more enjoyment in keeping these developed! I love to see the fresh ideas they craft up as well.

That’s a great question to reflect on. I’m planning to share some writing and graphic design responsibilities with someone within my department but not my immediate team who is looking to expand their skillset. And I agree with @hayley.gilbert - short-form video is key but not my personal favorite/strength, so I plan to collaborate with our internal comms specialist who has more experience and interest.

Short term goal: create FAQ type of document for all clients for social Qs to cut out some of the email back and forths.

Long term goal: rework our offering to get out of the day to day social content creation to focus more on paid and large campaigns like product launches.

Great question! The task I am handing off  to another team member at our company is setting up hiring posts on Facebook and Instagram.
