I would love to know how fellow healthcare brands approach engaging on social media, especially Instagram. In hopes to boost our engagement and following, I’m creating a more structured strategy around what accounts with engage with, in addition to engaging with the comments on our posts.

These are some of the types of accounts we currently engage with but curious if any other hospitals/healthcare brands have any other approaches to engagement?

  • Cancer support organizations & advocacy groups
  • Local community organizations that support our hospital
  • Cancer research and educational sources
  • Medical research publications
  • Patients, while following HIPAA
  • Local accounts, like the city, sports teams, local leaders
  • Legislators, when appropriate

Feel free to share any insight to your organizations approach to engagement!

That’s a very strong list! One thing I would add (which is somewhat covered in your list) is engaging with local universities if they have any research partnerships or affiliations. That could help with recruitment purposes if your hospital has open positions.

Hi @madison.skipper! I know Samantha mentioned local universities for recruitment but some of my favorite collabs to engage community have been with local schools and universities that have student groups with philanthropic efforts in mind. They tend to host awareness nights, community service outreach and fundraisers that could work for your strategies.

We work with lots of local health centers, and FQHCs. Some lists that our internal resources have for approved reshares include:

  • City/State/Federal health organizations - in particular, local city ones tend to be great for things like Measles outbreaks or other closer concerns.
  • Any partner orgs that provide financial grants to your clinic.

For inspo (rather than reshares) I also try to find some medical students from local Universities who are becoming “influencers” that tend to share good content for us to emulate.
