Hey all! As we lead up to move-in day, wanted to open up a conversation about how your teams have a hand in crisis comms and reputation management on campus. As we've seen over the past 18-24 months, every institution is at risk of getting pulled into the news cycle, often due to incidents going viral on social media.

To help you all tackle these challenges more efficiently, Sprout just acquired Newswhip, a media intelligence tool to predict and understand the impact of emerging stories across the digital media landscape.

Every school manages this differently so figured this would be a helpful forum for knowledge sharing going into the new academic year.

How does your social team monitor for brand issues growing on social media, and how do you work with your broader crisis comms / PR / reputation management team to tackle these issues as they arise?

At the moment we rely on Smart Inbox and Listening to cover our social brand issues. But they’re less than perfect. Our Media Relations team also has access to a media mentions tool for traditional coverage but it’s pretty old school.

Interested to see what Newswhip can do to improve the situation as Listening is less than an ideal solution being so removed from the Smart Inbox
