Hi friends!
I have client who has a campaign goal of reaching 871 followers on X. The account is currently sitting at 779, and is actively posting, following, and engaging with posts. They’ve even had some replies pop off but it isn’t translating in the follower count.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to grow followers on X? Client budget does not allow for upgrading to a premium account and/or running ads.
Appreciate any advice! Thanks a ton!
I was going to say if you upgrade to premium, your posts automatically go up in view counts, but if you can’t do this. I would say, try targeting Musk and see if you get some play through the replies. Spam bots will definitely see it and you’ll get some views off of it, and hopefully the new influx of views will transfer to follows. It’s not a great strategy, but if all you’re looking for followers, it can’t hurt to try it.
Also, if the budget allows it, could you use an influencer to help?
First, growing on Twitter (I’ll deadname it until I die) used to be super easy. Now, not so much.
I would look at a few things:
-
Have you optimized your profile with keywords for your brand? This is where nice sharp copywriting comes in.
-
Is your niche clear to users?
-
Aim for 3 posts per day, but 10-15 is ideal for growth IMO as a Tweet only lasts about 20 minutes last time I checked.
-
Engage actively, which you are doing. Follow larger brands in your niche and comment with valuable insights.
-
Participate in trending topics, but ONLY if they are relevant to your brand.
-
The audience is out on hashtags -- I use them, but I am very niche and medical professional use them.
-
Tweets with images or videos get significantly more engagement—up to 150% higher for images and 6x more retweets for videos
-
Experiment with threads or storytelling.
-
AVOID spammy behavior.
-
Stay in brand voice. Even if I’m responding to a doctor in a cheeky manner (ex: t-shirts from latest conference) I stay in brand voice.
The thing is that, for every 2 - 3 followers gained, the same amount is leaving Twitter / X and, thus, unfollowing you.. SO… It’s a hard game. Ask employees who are usually the face of the brand (going to events, etc) to set up a Twitter account.
