Meet Makenzie Bowker!

This month’s Member Spotlight features @makenzie.bowker, a seasoned social pro with over 13 years of experience in health care, nonprofit, and breaking news sectors. Whether she’s leading strategy or consulting behind the scenes, Makenzie has seen just about every corner of the social world.

What keeps her motivated? Communities like The Arboretum. “It’s a chance to learn from others and cheer on the next generation of social leaders,” she says.

Beyond the Feed: Knitting, Toddlers and a Historic Home
Makenzie’s creativity carries over into her personal life too. She’s a knitter, lives in a 130-year-old house in Atlanta, and spends her time chasing after her toddler while trying to convince her husband to adopt a third dog.

Creative Spotlight: Faces of Hope
One of her recent proud moments is “Faces of Hope,” a heartfelt video series that highlights City of Hope’s employees and care teams. The content feels personal, uplifting, and is resonating with both staff and the wider community.

Accounts That Inspire Her

Powered by Collaboration and Curiosity
Makenzie believes that "good ideas come from everywhere." Her team regularly hosts storymining sessions with internal partners and community managers. When an idea gets greenlit, the person who pitched it gets a sneak peek of the final piece before it goes live. This creates a sense of ownership and excitement across the organization.

Makenzie was recently named a Social Intelligence Insider 50 award winner by The Social Intelligence Lab, recognizing her as a leader shaping the future of social and digital strategy.

Say hello to Makenzie in the replies and share your favorite examples of content born from collaboration!

Hi @makenzie.bowker! I love seeing some similarities here. I also work at a nonprofit and have a 110 year old historic house (though I’m currently chasing a 4 and 6 year old through it while my cats watch along). I’d love to connect and learn more about what’s working for your nonprofit (especially now with all the literal and metaphorical fires happening in the sector).

City of Hope is an organization near and dear to my husband’s heart, after his mom died from cancer. We are annual supporters. Thanks for all you do there @makenzie.bowker!

Love how you reward your storymine successes!
