I keep a blank piece of paper next to me on my desk and whenever I get an idea that doesn’t relate to what I’m working on, I write it down there so I don’t lose focus. I used to keep this as a running list on my laptop’s Notes app, but found that I’d end up forgetting about it or it’d get lost in the mess.

At the end of the day (most of the time 🤭), I go through the notes and either add them to my to-do list for the next day or slot them into my calendar wherever makes sense. It has been helpful in cutting down my constant clicking back and forth between tabs/projects and I find that when I physically write down my to-do’s I remember them better.

I think this is a great idea. I don’t even want to think about the amount of time I’ve spent completely jumping to a new task because I had an idea that I didn’t want to forget. Can’t wait to try this strategy instead!

Glad you like this! Hope it is helpful for you too. I’ve found that keeping my phone/laptop on DND is also essential because if a text from a client comes through I will totally jump into that vs. finishing what I’m already doing.

I love this! I constantly find myself jumping around or have an idea that I want to share with my manager (which makes her get off track as well). I should definitely start doing this instead!

i love this tip! I like to write my ideas down on paper too.

I love this! I always have that need to write something down, or it keeps bugging me or I will forget it. Just having a place to jot everything down for later helps clear up space so you can give full attention to what you’re working on while being able to come back to it later, so it isn’t forgotten. I always try to use Todoist to jot things down in.

A paper parking lot - I like it!

This is a helpful tip! I have a notebook where I jot down ideas, but I find that if it’s not open, I’ll sometimes forget to open it and write things down. I might try just having a blank piece of paper open or just flip open my notebook for the day so the page is readily available!

This is such an easy tip to incorporate into my day but will have big impact on productivity.

Yes! Love keeping IRL notes; I find it’s way easier to 1. just get the thought down without needing to make it perfect and 2. actually remember it later

I love this idea, looks like someone’s on their way to that reMarkable tablet 😉

Happy working!!
