Time to meet, Shannon Waldschmidt!

@shannon.waldschmidt, our Member Spotlight for November, leads the social media marketing team at The Cigna Group – a team that’s just been recognized as a finalist for "Best Use of Social Media" by the Content Marketing Institute’s Content Marketing Awards! 👏 She’s been shaping the way social connects and engages, taking innovation to the next level. But there’s more to Shannon than you might expect from a Head of Social…

From Journalism Major to Social Media Maven
Believe it or not, Shannon didn’t start her career in marketing! She’s a former journalism major with a dance minor, and she even dipped her toes into musical theater. This artsy background fuels her creative spark on social – and we think that’s pretty cool!

Shoutout to @Things.I.Bought.and.Liked
When it comes to inspiration, Shannon is all about authenticity. She loves the account @Things.I.Bought.and.Liked for its honest, no-sponsorship approach to sharing recommendations. Shannon loves that this influencer stays true to herself, embracing IG broadcast channels in a way that feels genuine. (She’s also one of the first influencers Shannon followed to use them in a non-annoying way!)

Mom Life on the Go
Outside of work, Shannon’s schedule is full as she keeps up with her two daughters, Ellie and Finley. Ellie’s into cheer, musicals, and basketball, while Finley is a competitive gymnast, trumpet player, and soon-to-be basketball player, too. Shannon spends tons of time on the go, shuttling her girls around town – so if you spot her in a car line, say hello!

Authenticity is the Spark
In work and in life, Shannon’s inspired by people who keep it real. She believes in taking creative cues from all around (yes, even other people’s ideas) and then adding her own twist. It’s all about finding fresh ways to connect while staying true to who you are. 🌱

Let’s give Shannon a round of applause for all her incredible work! Drop a comment or question below if you're feeling inspired.

Hi Shannon! I started out in journalism too 🙌 I really think that background brings valuable skills to being a SMM.

I’m curious about the CMI finalist honor… any links you can share about the campaign you submitted?

Hey @shannon.waldschmidt! Congratulations to you and your team for being recognized in Content Marketing Institute’s Content Marketing Awards!

As a fellow musical theater enthusiast and actor, I’ve found that it’s given me so many invaluable soft skills that I’ve carried into my roles in marketing.

First off—have you seen Wicked yet?! And secondly, do you feel that your artistic and creative background has given you an edge in your career? If so, I’d love to hear how it’s helped you along the way.

Thanks for your time—looking forward to connecting!
