Issues with Adobe Premiere Rush / Alternative Video Editing Software

Hi there! I just got a new laptop (Dell) and it’s having issues with Adobe Premiere Rush - it crashes as soon as try to start a new project and add files. Of course, this is a major drawback since video content is the new favorite format!

Has anyone else encountered this crash issue, and have any solutions?

Otherwise, I’d love to collect alternative video editing software here in one list!

Hey @c.leverton, sorry to hear about your computer crashes..

I love using the Adobe suite and myself use a Macbook pro to power it. Here’s a few trouble shooting things I usually try if I’m having trouble:

    • Clearing your media cache in Rush can help clear up random crashes.
    • Delete and reinstall the app. Sometimes there’s bugs that happen during install that can create weird issues.
    • Double check that your Dell’s graphic drivers are up-to-date and adequate enough to run Rush since that software relies a lot on GPU performance.

Here’s some alternatives you can look at (similar to what @tcsandoval has already said):

    1. CapCut - really easy editing and you can do it on your phone
    2. DaVinci Resolve
    3. Canva Video Editor - done online and should help manage crashes
    4. Descript - another good choice but not as commonly used

    Hope that helps!

That’s terrible news. I’m not familiar with Premiere Rush, I typically use Premiere Pro. But I have don’t some editing on CapCut, both the native app and the desktop version. DaVinci is another I’ve used for color correction but it does have editing features and I have some colleagues that have used that for editing. Hope this helps!

    Hi,

I’m encountering this issue right now as well on my new Dell laptop with Adobe Premiere Rush. The app crashes whenever I try to start a new project and add files, which is incredibly frustrating. I’ve tried updating drivers and reinstalling the software, but the problem persists.

Hi there! Unfortunately I was unable to get Adobe Premiere Rush working, even after much, much trouble-shooting. I’ve switched to CapCut for now, as the learning curve/toolset seemed the most familiar from Rush for me.
