Tracking Hashtags in LinkedIn

Is there a way to track a hashtag on LinkedIn- inside of sprout?

The Smart Inbox only grabs mentions and replies on posts. I figure there has to be a way, but with all the dumb API restrictions, there might not be.

We want to then set up a rule to send me an email for negative sentiment around that hashtag. We had an ex-employee go on a lovely rant, not tag us, but use a common hashtag.

Thanks!

You’re right—because of LinkedIn’s API restrictions, Sprout can’t track hashtags directly in the Smart Inbox. It only pulls in tagged mentions, comments, and replies.

Workarounds:

Use LinkedIn’s native search to follow hashtags.

Set up Sprout keyword rules (company/product names, etc.) to catch related posts.

For deeper hashtag listening, external tools like Brandwatch or Talkwalker can help.

So, no direct way in Sprout today, but combining keywords + saved searches usually covers most cases.

If you're looking to track hashtags on linkedIn using sprout social, it’s totally doable. You can use sprout’s listening tools to keep tabs on hashtags—see how often they're used, gauge engagement, and even check sentiment to see if people are reacting positively or not. and if you're running campaigns with specific tags, sprout lets you tag your posts and track performance using tag reports with one unified view. good way to stay on top of what’s clicking—and what isn't.

If you're wondering how to keep an eye on hashtags on linkedIn through sprout, the platform’s listening tools can help you follow how often they’re used, track engagement, and even see the tone of conversations around them. you can set up hashtag tags, see how they perform over time, analyze sentiment, and even peek at what competitors are using—all from sprout’s dashboards.

Thanks for sharing these tips! It’s my understanding that LinkedIn’s API still doesn’t share keywords back to Sprout either. Are you see posts come through that don’t directly tag you?
