I do love a good use of emoji in my private conversations. In fact, my 12-year-old almost exclusively talks to me via emojis on his gizmo watch. However, I work at B2B tech company and our buyers tend to be older, senior-level managers or execs and there’s a balance between showing some personality and turning them off. My use of them is infrequent at best on the work front.

I also worry about accessibility and the articles I’ve read about how difficult it is for those to be translated in a readable way for those who need technology assistance. Interesting article about that here: https://slate.com/culture/2022/02/wordle-word-game-results-accessibility-twitter.html (bonus if you’re a wordle fan too!)

I’ve also had some interesting conversations with our recruiters, who will use dozens in a LinkedIn post — despite targeting senior level experience — because it’s more important that company be seen as “fun” vs. a post that would resonate with those who work within traditionally formal roles.

Looking forward to reading the report; thanks for sharing it.
