It makes it hard and funny sometimes when talking with family and friends. Did you see this meme? Did you know this famous actress passed away. Yes, yes I did. Sometimes I tell them. Sometimes I don’t so I don’t crush their joy of sharing something with me. Then on the rare occasion they do show me something I haven’t seen for the first time I feel like I’m a failure at my job because I missed something. It often feels like a lose-lose situation sometimes. 

I know what how you feel, it’s fun to see a trend building, but sometimes feels like you’re on the outside looking in once it reaches its peak (especially when it doesn’t make sense for your brand to join in).

Bwhahaha. such an apt way to talk about it. When I miss a trend I feel so incompetent and layer onto that generational differences and sometimes I see a Gen Z trend and I’m like I don’t even have a frame of reference to begin to understand this. To the internet! The thing about memes is that they are a language unto themselves with nuances in usage and timing.
