What's one thing you love or hate about AI in social media today?

That’s true, GenAI written content often has a very textbook feel to it, not so much humanized or organic-feeling as it should be. That’s the missing ingredient that (for now, at least!) only people can communicate. 

The AI caption tool in Sprout has been hugely helpful for me. But I mostly use the 3 alternative options as inspo, then pull what I like and personalize it to fit my brand voice. That tool and the AI generated Alt Text tool is all I use AI for. It was HARD to break that mentality of “I never relied on AI before and don’t want to lose the writing skills I’ve worked hard to develop” but it’s actually been helpful and a time saver!

It makes me sad to see the 100% AI-created posts because I imagine the totally overworked social media professional who is probably behind them. They’re probably also doing three other jobs. 😂

It’s so interesting reading these responses with a few months between. 

I think generative AI is getting a lot better at writing captions, but you have to build it to do what you want. My biggest frustration is that people think that AI is going to be instantly faster or easier, but in order to have it do what you need it to do, and do it well, there’s a lot of time spent training it.

I love how AI enhances content personalization and improves engagement, but I dislike how it can sometimes amplify misinformation or create echo chambers. How do you feel AI has impacted your social media experience?

Probably the best tool that Sprout has right now is the AI-generated Alt-Text. For those that don’t know how to write alt-text, it has been a great way to show them how to do it. Also, the AI-generated content for Alt-Text has been fairly accurate. With only minor changes, I’ve been able to use a lot of what it produces right away.
