I am certainly glad I keep moderation on in the Facebook groups I moderate. Most of the time the posts are fine but there is often that one zinger that is just terrible. Got one this morning  that would have just devastated some of our parent volunteers!

Facebook audiences can be such a challenge! Your suggestion to use responsible moderators is a great one - are you the only one moderating? I was wondering if you have any tips or guides you use to determine when to step in or not - especially if mutliple people are trying to moderate the group; what one person thinks is too far, another is willing to keep! I could see some sort of flowchart could be useful for determining how to respond to inflamatory comments (as in, do the say X? If yes → comment and DM; if no → delete).

@c.leverton  we basically have a hierarchy. I am the main person then I have a couple people on my team that can back me up if I am out. This is for a school too so I have our Booster Parents.. our version of PTO who are in the groups with the Booster presidents being moderators too. They all generally leave any problematic posts that are in the queue to me.
