Question

Discrepancy in recent reporting?

kaily.serralta

Hi all,

Curious if there’s a bit of a lag or discrepancy in reporting recently on Sprout. I’m getting confused on a post that I see has about 67 engagements, but Sprout is showing wayyyy off. I’m not talking about clicking on hashtags.

Any ideas?

I’ve noticed a similar thing with link clicks! Sprout Social reported that we had like 350 link clicks, but Facebook Business Manager said we had around 2,800. It’s a massive discrepancy. For some reason the original Arb post on this topic was deleted or else I’d share the conversation that happened there, but the TL;DR on it is that quite a few folks have noticed a difference between Sprout and Facebook’s analytics.

Hi @kaily.serralta, I did some investigation but couldn’t find anything specific that would be impacting your data. I would recommend opening a ticket with our support team to look at your account. You can submit that request here, or open a live chat within the Sprout Social tool.

@kate.meyers emery, we don’t delete conversations in the Arb. I found your post in one of our customer-only gated spaces here:

If you’re unable to access this thread, can you log out then when you log back in be sure to select the button that says “Login with your Sprout Credentials”. Once you’ve done that you should be able to access the customer forums. Please let me know if you have questions.

Hi Laura,

Good to know! I did think for a hot minute I was going a little crazy not being able to find it. For some reason I still can’t access even after logging out and in. Not sure how I would have posted something gated!

I’m also getting a 403 on it as well.

It’s possible I moved it to a customer space assuming you both would still see it, sorry about that. I have two possible solutions to share with you.

  1. If you’re already logged into Sprout Social and use this link to log in to The Arb, it will force you through the SSO steps and recognize you as a customer (if this works I recommend bookmarking it.)
  2. I made this extremely low-fi video with the steps for logging in with Sprout credentials, can you confirm these are the steps you’ve taken to log in?

I’ll send you both a DM to check in on your success.

I already login with my Sprout credentials and still receive the 403.

I haven’t seen this with Facebook but often have a discrepancy on LinkedIn where Sprout reports any post click as a link click. Maybe the same is happening here?
