For me the most effective way to stay productive is to put my phone in another room, or if I’m in the office, to put it in my bag on the other side of my cubicle. Since I use Sprout, it’s easier to engage on our social channels using the smart inbox, which helps me stay on task and makes it so I don’t get distracted by every notification that pops up on my phone.

Phone distractions are a very real obstacle! Sometimes I’ll put on a podcast that I’ve already listened to before putting my phone away so that I can still have something running in the background of my earbuds if I need it.

I second this! I’ve opted for leaving my phone in another room too since I tend to ignore the time limits I put in place on my apps anyway.

Completely agree. It’s hard to follow time limits on apps that I use so often for work too! Having the phone out of sight and out of reach is more effective for sure. Sometimes I reach for it just to check for notifications and I don’t even notice that that’s what I’m doing, so it helps to fight that compulsion when I can’t reach for it.

I love this idea! I always struggle with this, so I will definitely be using this tip in the future!

Yes! Have totally done this and the first few minutes are hard but after that I don’t even notice!
