For the day 1 giveaway, my productivity tip is around continual learning.
Never let what you know become stale. Trends and innovations are showcased often, while tool and platform features and algorithms are updated, tweaked, and changed about as often. Allocating time to stay current, by reading news, blogs, checking out podcasts, joining communities (like this one, of course!), attending webinars can definitely help with optimizing productivity — and staying sharp!.
I completely agree. I always make sure I attend the quarterly webinars from Sprout showcasing their updates, because I know I’m going to need to be prepared to share them with various clients who are going to have questions.
Yes, especially in social media where things are always evolving with best practices and new platforms. My team takes advantage of the webinars offered by Sprout to expand their skills.
Yes, lots of free webinars from tools you may use (thanks Sprout!)… and their competitors 🤫 🤭!
I’ve joined quite a few slack communities and the advice in there is valuable too.
I also block off time every Friday to read e-newsletters I subscribe to.
And don’t forget about just scrolling through feeds and posting as yourself. Part of being good at the job is doing the job. I’m on social all day for work and sometimes forget to post on my individual accounts, but it’s key toward testing what can work.
I love this, especially because a lot of folks tend to not do it proactively.
An add-on, if I may: Don’t feel guilty or FOMO-y about unsubscribing to a certain newsletter, social media account, blog, class series, etc., that just doesn’t do it for you. I have a tendency to subscribe to allll the things when I get on a learning kick. Naturally, as the weeks/months progress, there are things I’m drawn to consume and engage with and things I don’t. But kicking those “don’ts” out of my assorted newsfeeds is tough because it feels like I’m cheating myself or missing out on something. I do my best to just cut the cord, unsubscribe, and move on (because honestly: life is too short to listen to a podcaster with an annoying voice).
