one of my career wins was updating our company website! This was a major undertaking and every step had many obstacles and channels, so it felt like a huge achievement to finally get the green light to go live.

That is certainly worth celebration, congrats! It can be such a daunting and sometimes lonely task wih many pitfalls… I speak from experience as someone also currently going through a massive website rehaul 😅 Your success gives me motivation to make it my goal for 2025, though!

It’s been my first year here! Participating in the Arb has been great and has helped me connect with people I otherwise would have never met. Working solo and entirely self-taught, the Arb and the mentorship program have been great helps for me to stay up to date on platform changes, best practices, and career planning. This forum has really helped me feel less isolated in my roll.

My team produced a vertical documentary for Instagram Reels for Tony Orlando’s last concert ever. It was special night and my team captured the emotion perfectly. They created it over 8 months ago, but it still makes me emotional to watch it.

My career moment was publishing! Some of you know I’m passionate about the issue of burnout among communicators working in the social media space. I took the next step, built on a few talks I’d given and wrote a book on the subject!

My book - Social Media, Sanity & You: A Guide To Mental Wellness For The Digital Marketer - paired with my emotional support dumpster fire.

When you work in the digital space and things can be deleted quickly, it’s an AMAZING feeling to hold something with permanence like your book in your hands.

That’s incredible! This is a topic that needs more attention. Our community managers are on the front lines and I don’t think most people realize what they have to put up with. Thanks for writing this!

My favorite career moment of the year is finally making the jump to a new career after nearly 10 years of wanting to leave nonprofit management. I started all of that organization’s social media 15 years ago, so social isn’t a complete departure, but I’ve never had a job that allowed me to focus, analyze, reflect, and plan. I am proud of myself for prioritizing my mental, physical, and emotional health and finding a job that allows me more time with my family and focus on things I love outside of work. And it’s been fun getting a crash course in corporate social media management :)

Wow, what a milestone! Finding a position that allows for more focus and strategy is a great move. Congrats on finding a roll that gives you a little more balance and more time for life outside of work!

Favorite Arb Moment; Getting featured in the Arb Spotlight! ❤️

Fave career moment: Getting a raise! 😂

I think finding out how my social media posts are actually making a difference in sign ups for our school events.

My other win was getting yearbook sales up during our initial sales opening discount period from like nothing to double digits!!

Next year I have some more ideas for that to bump it up!

My favorite ARB moments are the live trainings I love them and learn something every time!

Nice! Feels so good to tackle a big project, good job!

This is a minor win, but one of my favorite career moments of the year was my vice president shouting out my social media strategy in an all-staff marketing and communications team meeting. After working in so many toxic offices, it was just a huge win to be recognized for the work I’ve been doing. Some senior leadership has trouble understanding the impact social media has on the brand, so it was a great feeling.

Yessss!!!! It’s such a great feeling when you are recognized for the important role social media managers play (and not just having to justify our existence...)

This is so awesome! Also, I love the emotional support dumpster fire 😂

My biggest 2024 reflection is the growth I have personally had through change within my organization. Bringing teams together and building tons of new relationships done mainly virtually is such a challenge, but I have grown so much this year and really proud of that and all that is to come in 2025! And a plug for Sprout helping to bring our team together virtually is truly the glue where we can improve processes, find efficiencies and make our day-to-day social media world much better! :)

Congrats! I think this means you have officially earned a new title: Chaos Coordinator. Team management is such a skill, especially remotely/virtually.

For me, my career win for the year was convincing leadership to create a student worker position to support my work! As the only full-time staff member responsible for website edits, graphic design, social media, and all else events and communication, it was really wearing on me - now I have a student worker for 10 hours a week who can help with newsletters, website edits, and of course, creating posts on Sprout! Sprout has been a great tool for us to use as it helps streamline the review process, giving her power to create while allowing me to make any necessary tweaks as needed. 🙌🏻

💙This! My team created a student worker position two years ago as a trial, and they have been so helpful and play such a huge role in our success! Now we have 6 student worker positions!!

This is incredibly nerdy, but a big career win for me this year was creating and documenting an official social media strategy and set of digital policies for my organization. I’m a social media team of one on a new communications team of two, so this kind of documentation has never existed at my organization. I’m so excited to have something to point to when people come to me with questions about what can go on social.

My favorite 2024 Career moment was when Riskonnect hit 100K followers on our main social platform - LinkedIn.

My Social Team and I pushed so hard - both in 2023 and in 2024, to hit that milestone and it was truly an epic moment for us all to see us hit one of our strategic annual Social Program goals in Sept. 2024.

Beyond this moment, my other favorite moment is setting time aside to say thank you to every single member of my Social Team across the globe and wish them a nice holiday in December. We work so hard all year - we’ve pushed them to bring their best ideas/talents to the table every single month with our Social Program in 2024 and I am SO incredibly grateful to not be on this Social Media journey with Riskonnect on my own.

I’m so happy to hear that you have an extra pair of hands to help - more help can mean SO MUCH to an SMM.
My hope as we all head into 2025 is that more companies prioritize Social and find ways to build out their Social Team, so that we can take less pressure off of the SMMs and put more hands in, so we can also have more diverse perspectives.

So many great moments this year (incredibly blessed to be able to say this) but one that stood out to me was being able to get more and more buy-in of my teams social media strategy and goals. This would not have been possible without the power of Sprout Social analytics. We have been able to grow our social media strategy and be very purposeful of what we produce and put out on our channels. It was a great feeling to feel incorporated vs. an afterthought :)

A bonus for me also this year was attending one of the Sprout Social roadshows and speaking on stage!

Fave career moment: Getting a raise! 😂

RAISE WELL DESERVED and hoping you have many more to come and a promotion!

My biggest and best career moment from this year certainly has to be the job I landed back in February. Following a series of toxic and overly strenuous work environments, I was greatly hoping I could find a job this year that would be welcoming and with like-minded colleagues. Luckily, I hit the jackpot! I love what I do at this company, and the people I work with are fantastic.

After working in so many toxic offices, it was just a huge win to be recognized for the work I’ve been doing. I can totally relate to this! I had a few moments this year where high-up leadership made an example to the rest of the team using my posts or the content I created. Coming from toxic and negative work environments to a place where your hard work is valued is such a rewarding feeling!

This is great! Congrats. I can relate, as the communications team I am on is quite small in comparison to the programs and other teams in my organization, and we’ve struggled to create historical documents that enable the transfer of knowledge and SOPs down to new team members and interns. This has been quite challenging for the organization in the past, but I have been slowly crafting and composing all new SOPs and documents that should set a permanent blueprint for years to come. Very exciting to pilot something like this!

One of my favorite Arb moments from this year was attending “The Power of Numbers: Unraveling Data for Social Media Success” event with Jazmin Griffith. I really loved hearing from her and getting her insights on social media data and especially social listening! It was extremely insightful! I walked away with a lot of great new ideas and tools that our team could use to better understand our social media data. After the event I immediately followed her on social because I wanted to continue to learn from her. All of the other events this year have been amazing as well but this one was definitely a favorite of mine 😊

Sounds like I missed out. Wondering if a replay is available @Jonathan Zuluaga?

@robbie.schneider It was a great event! Here is the link to the recording 😊
