One of my favorite Arb moments from this year was attending “The Power of Numbers: Unraveling Data for Social Media Success” event with Jazmin Griffith. I really loved hearing from her and getting her insights on social media data and especially social listening! It was extremely insightful! I walked away with a lot of great new ideas and tools that our team could use to better understand our social media data. After the event I immediately followed her on social because I wanted to continue to learn from her. All of the other events this year have been amazing as well but this one was definitely a favorite of mine 😊

Sounds like I missed out. Wondering if a replay is available @Jonathan Zuluaga?

This is a minor win, but one of my favorite career moments of the year was my vice president shouting out my social media strategy in an all-staff marketing and communications team meeting. After working in so many toxic offices, it was just a huge win to be recognized for the work I’ve been doing. Some senior leadership has trouble understanding the impact social media has on the brand, so it was a great feeling.

It’s such a game changer to have a team and leadership that recognizes the hard work that goes into social media! Great work :)

There’s swag and then there’s SWAG. That’s super cool, Adrienne!

One career moment that has impacted our team has been getting all of our listening dashboards in Sprout set up for not only our locations but our competitors as well. It’s been a big step in helping us listen for brand crises or high-volume brand mentions.

This sounds like a great event, and I’m sad I missed it!

My career win this year was starting a job as a Social Media Manager! Up until now, I’ve had more general marketing titles, which made my job a lot more spread out. It’s been so nice to dig in to social media exclusively, and my skills have seriously improved in such a short amount of time. I feel like I have room to breathe!

Amazing congrats!! The community of social media professionals is the best.

This is a big win!! Getting support and recognition from senior leadership on your efforts always feels wonderful!

Amazing how finding these efficiencies with Sprout helps so much! Love developing new processes and ways to help our teams.

This was such an impactful webinar! I certainly took some great things away as well.

My biggest 2024 reflection is the growth I have personally had through change within my organization. Bringing teams together and building tons of new relationships done mainly virtually is such a challenge, but I have grown so much this year and really proud of that and all that is to come in 2025! And a plug for Sprout helping to bring our team together virtually is truly the glue where we can improve processes, find efficiencies and make our day-to-day social media world much better! :)

My career moment was publishing! Some of you know I’m passionate about the issue of burnout among communicators working in the social media space. I took the next step, built on a few talks I’d given and wrote a book on the subject!

My book - Social Media, Sanity & You: A Guide To Mental Wellness For The Digital Marketer - paired with my emotional support dumpster fire.

When you work in the digital space and things can be deleted quickly, it’s an AMAZING feeling to hold something with permanence like your book in your hands.

One of my favorite career moments this year: earning a USA gold medal!

Backstory: I am the social media manager for Choose Lansing and the Lansing Sports Commission. The sports commission hosted a national Taekwondo championship event this year, and I promoted the event on social media in advance, in addition to attending the event and creating reels during and after with footage of some of the matches, some cool roundhouse kicks, and just showcasing the amazing athletes that were there competing.

A couple months later at an industry conference, someone from USA Taekwondo presented the sports commission team with one of their championship gold medals as a thank you for outstanding social media promotion, which the team passed along to me. It’s proudly hanging up at my desk, and it’s heavier than I thought it would be!

That’s incredible! Congrats!

Congratulations! Room to breathe, reflect, and dig in is a great place to be!

My favorite moment of this year was surpassing our revenue goal for affiliate marketing during our first year starting it. I came in a couple months after it began and am happy how it’s continuing to grow. Can’t wait to see what 2025 has to offer!

One of my favorite Arb moments was attending the Elevate Your Impact: Fostering Inclusion through Content webinar! All of this year’s webinars were super insightful, but I loved hearing from leaders in the space about how we can all make our channels more inclusive. Accessibility has always been a key focus of mine when creating content, and I still use some tips I learned in the webinar! Definitely recommend everyone to go back and watch the recording if you haven’t :)

That’s amazing you were able to write a book on this topic! I know for those in social media, it’s very easy for your work and personal life to blend together. I think this would be a great read for me personally. I’ll have to add it to my TBR!

A neat career win this year - I’m a social media manager, and not usually a long-form article writer, but I felt super strongly about a topic at our college and wrote an article that was eventually picked up by the newspaper for the whole university! Sent to over 90,000 inboxes! It was very cool!

Congrats! What a HUGE accomplishment! Also a super important topic, I’ll have to check it out.

My favorite career moment of the year is finally making the jump to a new career after nearly 10 years of wanting to leave nonprofit management. I started all of that organization’s social media 15 years ago, so social isn’t a complete departure, but I’ve never had a job that allowed me to focus, analyze, reflect, and plan. I am proud of myself for prioritizing my mental, physical, and emotional health and finding a job that allows me more time with my family and focus on things I love outside of work. And it’s been fun getting a crash course in corporate social media management :)

Congrats!! 🙌🏻 I remember when I first started at my current job, I was transitioning out of a toxic work environment and was shocked when my first project in my new role, which felt so simple, was recognized and celebrated with enthusiam and appreciation at a team meeting after I completed it. (The project was designing a sticker, and every time I saw a coworker who had put the sticker on their personal item - like a phone or water bottle - gave me such a glow!) It really opened my eyes to what it looks like to be valued in a team. So happy for you!

Share your favorite Arb or career moment from this year in the comments. What stood out, made an impact, or brought a smile to your face?

I just want to use this opportunity to to shout out the Arb’s amazing community of social media professionals, which is both a favorite career and Arb callout for 2024 for me. Your friendly, welcoming, and decent vibes make this place a real oasis away from the craziness of day-to-day work, helping me find insights, inspirations, and ideas from both myself and from others here. It's so refreshing to have a space where we can all support and inspire each other. Thank you for being such a positive force and for making these interactions genuinely enjoyable.

Here's to keeping this amazing environment thriving in 2025!

This is a great idea! I know I’ve felt like other team members who don't work in social media don’t understand the mental toll that working in social media can take. The things I’ve seen, friends… the things I’ve seen.

Also - emotional support dumpster fire!?!?!?! So funny!
