We already know the social media marketing industry is constantly changing. So I'm opening the discussion on strategies, platforms, and tactics you believe will be critical for marketers in 2025. Let's collaborate with each other and surface ideas to bring into 2025.

What are your top social media predictions for 2025?

Share in the thread below for a chance to be featured on the Sprout Social Insights blog!

With developments at Twitter, especially post election (including the current rise of BlueSky), social media channels are becoming more and more identified with political positions--conservative channels and liberal channels. I predict that in the new year, we will need to be increasingly mindful about conclusions users might draw about our companies’ political leanings, not just through what we post, but where we post.

AI-powered content creation will become even more mainstream across platforms. Not just scheduling them, but creating them.

I think it will be all about people. People trusting social proof to counter AI powered social becoming more mainstream.  Authentic, humanised content will perform better and stand out in a crowded AI marketplace. A human approach will help foster that genuine connection, from short-form to long-form storytelling it’ll help deepen trust, loyalty and drive ROI.

The key is crafting content that feels real, resonates emotionally, and reflects the values of both the brand and its audience—keeping human connection at the heart of it all. That’ll be my approach :)

That is a great insight and something I can definitely see happening, similar to the cable news networks.

More videos and more AI-powered content creation. With things like TikTok’s new Custom Avatars,  AI created people “people” will be featured in more and video content.

AI-driven content will keep growing. As this trend continues, we’ll likely see tighter regulations to ensure transparency and trust in AI-produced content.

I'm inclined to believe that AI-driven content drafting and editing will continue to be a driving force in 2025, while perhaps paradoxically (or not, if the right balance is struck), the consumer need for authenticity in what they see in social media messaging will grow. Consequently, I think the desire for authenticity will help push both consumers and social media marketers toward grater personalization and niche market targeting opportunities as well.

I work mostly in digital for non profits. I agree with the AI driven content becoming more popular, on that note I believe that more authentic post and post that have “personality” (and seem less generic) will do well. I’m interested in testing AI led content versus organically created content with our social communities.

Short form video. It’s a super hot trend and it’ll keep growing into next year.

I think that short form video and AI created content and going to be HUGE going into next year

For 2025, I think TikTok’s AI avatars will become mainstream across platforms. No need to film yourself or hire a spokesperson when AI will do it for you (and in multiple languages!).

I think that public institutions across the US will be forced to tone down any posts that seem to be DEIB (i.e. posts celebrating diversity in their community during Black History Month, Pride Month, Latin X month, etc), or eradicate them altogether, in fear of budgetary retaliation from increasingly right-wing conservative state governments. I hope I’m wrong. 😓
