One of my favorite career moments this past year was attending a conference dedicated to career growth. I got to hear some amazing speakers (including Lauren Graham!), and the whole experience was so motivating and inspiring. It helped reinforce that I’m thankful to work for an organization that believes in my potential and actively supports my professional development.

Which conference was this! I’m researching conferences for 2025 to attend.

Love this! You can really learn a lot from these types of conferences. I attended my first conference for work this year aimed at social media professionals in my field. It was great connecting with everyone IRL and learning those strategies to help advance my career in social and gain professional development.

one of my career wins was updating our company website! This was a major undertaking and every step had many obstacles and channels, so it felt like a huge achievement to finally get the green light to go live.

This is major! Congratulations 👏

One career moment that has impacted our team has been getting all of our listening dashboards in Sprout set up for not only our locations but our competitors as well. It’s been a big step in helping us listen for brand crises or high-volume brand mentions.

The listening tool is so helpful! We’ve used it on our university comms team to listen for emerging crises on social or high-volume mentions.

@SJohnston88 As someone who also recently went through a major company website overhaul I can feel you with the amount of work that goes into that project. Congrats for getting it done, it is a huge achievement!

Choosing to be an optimist in life means looking at my biggest career moment as a positive. I was laid off from my job last month after 5 months of being in a weird limbo as the company was in the process of shutting down and it was unclear if I would be moving over to the company that was acquiring the brand I worked on.

I’m extremely fortunate in this situation that my family is financially sound and have some time to figure out what the next path is for me, and that I’ve spent the last month stoking the fire of unemployment by applying, interviewing and lining up freelance work.

While the future isn’t 100% clear, I’m confident that something will work out and I will find an opportunity that is equal parts rewarding and fun.

@dustinzick Thank you for being so open and honest. I’m really sorry to hear about the layoff, but I love how you’re turning this into an opportunity to reignite your passion and sharpen your marketing skills. Wishing you the best of luck with your job search and a wonderful holiday season ahead!

One of my favorite moments this year as a social media manager has been working alongside such incredible coworkers and inspiring leaders. Every project brought new opportunities to collaborate with talented individuals who not only supported my ideas but also challenged me to grow and think creatively. Whether it was brainstorming campaigns, navigating challenging moments, or celebrating successes, the camaraderie and mentorship I experienced made all the difference. I’ve learned so much from the expertise and leadership around me, and it’s been a privilege to be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and personal growth. These connections and shared accomplishments have truly been the highlight of my year.

@jaxn.engstrom that is really cool! Updating a website is a massive undertaking and I am impressed you were able to not only encourage your team to make the leap but also to contribute to the success of the project. Bravo!

@Hannah.c.roberts - I agree, the listening dashboards are an absolute game-changer! So helpful for our team and our clients.

Thats amazing to hear. So often we hear about dysfunctional teams or teams who discount the role of social media and its great that there are actual joyful workspaces.

This year I used some spare time to join a volunteer organization’s food and clothing drive, I participated in one of their community outreach programs, helped secure donations and organized distribution of food and clothing to a large number of underserved families. Our efforts provided essential supplies and I think it helped create unity and hope within the community, highlighting the power of teamwork and compassion. It’s been a humbling and powerful experience and I may re-join again in 2025.

Being in that situation is tough, but as an optimist too, I’d like to believe the best things to come are on the horizon. Keep us in the know how things work out please.

So many great moments this year (incredibly blessed to be able to say this) but one that stood out to me was being able to get more and more buy-in of my teams social media strategy and goals. This would not have been possible without the power of Sprout Social analytics. We have been able to grow our social media strategy and be very purposeful of what we produce and put out on our channels. It was a great feeling to feel incorporated vs. an afterthought :)

A bonus for me also this year was attending one of the Sprout Social roadshows and speaking on stage!

Congrats on speaking on stage and sharing your knowledge that way! Do you plan to do it again in 2025?

I love this. I've been volunteering more too and it really is a reset.

One of my favorite Arb moments from this year was attending “The Power of Numbers: Unraveling Data for Social Media Success” event with Jazmin Griffith. I really loved hearing from her and getting her insights on social media data and especially social listening! It was extremely insightful! I walked away with a lot of great new ideas and tools that our team could use to better understand our social media data. After the event I immediately followed her on social because I wanted to continue to learn from her. All of the other events this year have been amazing as well but this one was definitely a favorite of mine 😊

@Jonathan Zuluaga, amazing sessions like this can get a lot of great traction! But I have a suggestion: a poll or thread about topics the community might like to see covered in a future webinar. The greater the interest, the greater the likelihood of participation and engagement!

Next year, who might be volunteering? If so, where? That’s on my radar as a significant personal goal for next year.

What’s the top 3 conferences you’re looking at for 2025, whether in marketing, brands, influencers, social media, etc.?

My career moment was publishing! Some of you know I’m passionate about the issue of burnout among communicators working in the social media space. I took the next step, built on a few talks I’d given and wrote a book on the subject!

My book - Social Media, Sanity & You: A Guide To Mental Wellness For The Digital Marketer - paired with my emotional support dumpster fire.

When you work in the digital space and things can be deleted quickly, it’s an AMAZING feeling to hold something with permanence like your book in your hands.

Congratulations, that’s on my bucket list, to publish a book someday!
