Meta ditches impressions and switches to views

Hey y’all! Every month I put together a social report for our more than 40 channels across FB and Insta. I prioritize metrics like engagement rates and impressions, but with Meta ditching impressions and switching to views it makes me wonder how this shift will impact how performance is truly measured. The inclusion of repeat views for non-video content alters how performance is measured. Inflated view counts could impact CPM metrics, making them appear more favorable without necessarily reflecting higher engagement quality. I would love to understand what everybody thinks of this and pivots made on reporting in order to reflect these changes!

Hi, Tori! My team has not made any adjustments to account for this change in our reporting. However, you have a good point - how do we know know the switch from views to impressions is 1-1? It may be inflating or deflating the performance numbers.
