On our website at Azusa Pacific University, we have several pages with links saying “Follow us on Twitter.” Since Twitter is now officially known as X, we changed the logo from the bird to the X logo, but debated whether we should say “Follow us on X” or “X account” for various department Twitter accounts. What are your thoughts on this? Is it best to still use the word Twitter with the X logo or to use the X logo with the name X next to it? Thank you!

Our agency has been discussing this, too. We’ve updated client-facing materials from ‘Twitter’ to ‘X’, but our website and other internal documents still says Twitter with the bird logo. It really depends on what your team/organization’s preferences are. Twitter/ X itself isn’t in a huge hurry to switch everything over to the new name yet, so there’s no real rush for us marketers to make that transition.

I came here to ask the same question!

Great point about Twitter/X not being in a hurry to switch everything over quite yet. If they’re not, then we don’t need to be either!

Thank you, Samantha! Great points!

Great ideas! And you’re not the only one with this question. Interesting to see how quickly it changes and how it will probably all change again soon 😜

We are debating this at Riskonnect right now. As an SaaS company, we try to be very cutting-edge when changes like this happen, but we did wait a bit for the ‘dust to settle’ to see if Twitter would go in a different direction with their re-brand. With that said, I think we’ll be updating things within the month of August 2023.

Here’s the link where you can find the ‘X’ brand assets to update things: https://about.twitter.com/en/who-we-are/brand-toolkit
