Are you planning ahead for any changes to strategy if TikTok is restricted in the United States in the near term? What do you think social media professionals should do to prepare for that kind of outcome?

We started a TikTok account about a year ago, knowing there was a good chance it would end up being restricted. Our strategy has been making sure we have a well rounded content plan across multiple platforms to ensure that losing TikTok wouldn’t have a significant negative impact. Cross posting content on YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels is a top priority, as well as having enewsletters and running leads campaigns on Meta to get newsletter sign ups. We’re also prepared to pivot our budget for TikTok ads to other platforms like Meta and YouTube. I think the more channels your audience can reach you on, the less you’ll be negatively impacted by the loss of TikTok, if it happens.
