Apart from Sprout Social and Canva, which are amazing tools that I use on a daily basis, Adobe Color’s accessibility tool is a go-to for testing color contrast in designs. Accessible Brand Colors by Use All Five is another great accessibility tool that I’ve been using as my organization is working towards a rebrand.

I love that you shared some accessibility tools! I’ll have to check these out. On a related accessibility tangent, I’ve been enjoying Otter.ai for creating transcripts - it’s so easy to review and edit, which makes getting accessible videos with captions that much faster :)

I hate to admit it, but ChatGPT has been a game changer for me this year. It’s helped with enhancing productivity as a social media manager.

Canva is also a go-to tool I use frequently!

There’s no shame in using AI tools to help with productivity!! What tasks do you find it the most helpful for?

Favorite digital tool for note-taking and organization is ~Obsidian~. I’ve been using it for years, and though I haven’t taken full advantage of its capabilities (like linking across notes), it’s definitely been very handy.

Ditto to Canva, CapCut, and AirTable. I’ve tried Notion, but for some reason it didn’t stick. I heard Adobe Rush would be a good tool for video editing, but haven’t tried it yet.

Also, I’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT, it’s been cool to use to help with getting the juices flowing when I feel stuck.

And of course, SproutSocial. The analytics reports are so wonderful!

One of my favorite tools is the “GoFull Page” widget in Chrome that allows me to screenshot the full screen. Defintily comes in handy along with the Snipping Tool.

Similar but different - if I need more than a screenshot, less than a video, licecap is perfect for creating short gifs! It’s low-frills, but so so easy to use. I just make sure that I try to create good ADA-accessible gifs when I use it!

If I’m being honest: Sprout Social has streamlined all of my content planning, scheduling, and reporting in a way that nothing else compares to. But, if we’re looking beyond the obvious, Canva has been a great resource for not just creating imagery for social media, but collaborating with my team and clients. I can do almost everything I used to do in Adobe (for social media)… but it a much more user-friendly way.

As Riskonnect’s Global Social Media Program Manager, I rely heavily on a long list of digital tools but my favorite digital tool for Video Editing & Captioning is by far the free version of the Microsoft ClipChamp tool.

ClipChamp allows you to join edited video clips with ease, add royalty-free background audio to your videos, generate easy-to-edit SRT video caption files and/or add automated captions into your videos, and so much more.

Whether you’re an experienced video editor at a start-up that has no budget for video editing tools or someone at a larger company who is coming to video editing with no experience at all, Microsoft ClipChamp is the perfect tool to help you generate more video for your brand’s social media program in 2025.

Here’s my top 3 favorite features:

#1 ClipChamp has the most simple yet effective video captioning I’ve found yet.

#2 ClipChamp has SO many no-cost royalty-free sounds/songs - it will save you time and budget.

#3 ClipChamp will generate video for you in a variety of sizes, including 1080px for YouTube and 480 for platforms that allow only lower resolution video (such as X, for example).

  1. Honestly, Sprout. I don’t know what I would do without it!
  2. Boring, but I’m going to say Slack. One of the major challenges of managing social for an organization that has teams throughout the Western Hemisphere is coordinating with all of our diverse and dispersed staff. Being able to have fast, informal conversations is exactly what I need in a remote work environment. I can’t imagine doing my job over email. 😬

This is pretty simple but we have “work in progress” Google docs with a running list of all of our tasks and we assign all of them through the Google tasks function. But the real kicker is that it will show up on your Google calendar and you can easily see what’s going on that day and when things are due. I know there are lots of cool calendar apps out there but Google Cal is my go to!

Such a simple and elegant solution! I’m wondering if this could work for us. Our team lives in Gmail and Drive and project management software always seems disconnected.

I can do almost everything I used to do in Adobe (for social media)… but it a much more user-friendly way.

The collaboration features are so helpful in Canva!

Aside from Sprout Social, Asana is critical in my day-to-day! My work requires collaboration across many different projects and departments, so this platform allows us to keep all conversations in one place and create alignment on progress and timelines. And since we can assign each task or subtask to a team member there is always clarity on who owns that deliverable or step in the process.

At an individual level though, it keeps me organized on my to-dos and able to tackle each based on priority.

Trello!!!

I’m a sucker for visualized organizational tools and Trello makes it SO easy to track my tasks personally and also streamline content approvals and feed planning for my team! Plus, it’s free (with a few minor limitations) but I’ve found that the free version works perfectly fine for a small business/freelance workflow.

My team uses Trello, so I use it. But MAN do I not benefit from the visual organization. Give me a due- date and priority-ranked list. 😂

Can I cheat and do two? I’m gonna cheat.

#1. Canva, my ride or die graphic design tool.

I wear so many hats at work, and having Canva as my sidekick makes my design process so much easier than it would be if I was using Adobe.

At least, I think it does. Canva makes sure I don’t have to figure out how to use all the Adobe bells and whistles--just the ones I desperately need to prepare certain files.

#2. AirTable, my project management pick of a decade-plus.

AirTable works the way my brain does and is completely customizable, making it scratch that itch to be able to organize things my way, 100% of the time.

Even after years of working with Adobe, I will still choose Canva when given the option. It’s truly such a user-friendly platform - and saves me infinitely more time day-to-day.

Another vote for Adobe Express here! I’ve migrated from Canva to Express since our team can easily access and use assets from the entire Adobe suite as well as Adobe Fonts.

I’ve been impressed with the AI features, specifically how quickly it can resize designs for different platforms and automatically improve images. It saves time and helps me create professional-looking content more easily.

Woah I haven’t heard of this tool yet?! How does it compare to Sprout in terms of pricing and UX?

I use Adobe Express for creating content that I schedule in Sprout. Express is similar to Canva, but I feel the templates and tools are a bit more design forward. I use it for graphics when I don’t want to get into Photoshop or Illustrator. Sprout is so robust for social scheduling, listening, reporting, and more, that I don’t see it every leaving my toolkit :)

Favorite Digital Tool - EVERNOTE (and here’s why..)

I’ve seen people mention their project management software, but I haven’t heard much about how people manage their notes specifically. For me, Evernote is my go-to digital tool—it helps me keep my personal life organized, from trip itineraries to keeping my desk paper-free, and it also helps manage my work tasks and organize my day.

I’m a big fan of TIME BLOCKING. Here’s how it works for me: I break my day into 30-minute increments. Using a custom template I’ve created in Evernote I start my morning (or night before) with planning. On the right side, I list ongoing tasks, and on the left, I plan out meetings, appointments, and to-dos. I assign exactly what I’ll do at each specific time.

The biggest benefit I get from time blocking is understanding exactly what I have time for throughout the day. This clarity helps me build MOMENTUM as I check of all the tasks for the day allowing me to achieve the flow state more easily as the week goes on. It also prevents that feeling of falling short at the end of the day, which can kill momentum.

Have you tried time blocking? Or have you made any adjustments to your schedule that help you get into the flow state more easily?

I am addicted to ChatGPT - I just had it write two different ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ poems for two different audiences. I even asked how to make it even more personalized and it gave me ideas and then did the rewrite for me until it was perfect. It is my go-to starter when I am just not feeling creative.

I couldn’t agree more!! I can’t even believe I lived without this tool for so long. It really helps overcome those creative blocks - and as a one-woman creative team, that’s HUGE.

Hey @Katy4Riskonnect!

Great post here, and a software I haven’t heard of before. I can imagine so many scenarios that this tool can come in handy. Out of curiosity, have you had success posting these generated video clips? Or do you use this as mostly just video editing?

Thanks!

My tools have already been named here - Trello and Canva (obviously), but I’d say that Headliner.app has been crucial for my team. It allows us to easily caption videos, create audiograms of our podcasts, and even suggests videos to promote our podcast using stock images. It’s been such a time saver!

Hey @Liz.Harter!

Headliner.app sounds awesome! We’ve recently been promoting our podcast and, of course, posting more and more videos. Luckily, we have an in-house video editor who sends out SRT files. But, when we have other videos we’re posting I’m always trying to find the best way to add accurate caption files without relying heavily on the auto-generated ones. Have you found the caption files to be pretty accurate using Headliner? Thanks!

Yessss @katie.deaton! I am a fellow Adobe Express user and much prefer it to Canva. Maybe it’s my background with the Adobe suite but it feels more intuitive for me, plus free since we already have a subscription 😆 Can’t beat it!

I live and die by my content calendar in Asana - a good customizable task management tools is so important.

Adobe Premiere Rush is my go to for social videos, super easy, super fast

Our team uses Asana to manage tasks and projects across our marketing department. Its form submission tool and automations were a game-changer when our direct supervisor was out on maternity leave - our team would have fallen apart without it!

We also recently added Canto to our tech stack, and so far I have been really loving the ease of search it has added to our digital assets.

Same!! Makes it so helpful to collaborate with teammates and interns in a place that everyone has access to.

This looks interesting! Is EverNote something you use on a tablet, or does it work on other devices too? I’ve attempted time blocking just using Google Calendar, and I’ve had varying degrees of success with it.

Canva! It is such a time-saver and easy to use! Next, is Sprout Social - having one inbox for everything and being able to track and organize it all is a must!

I’ll offer up some different ones. Talkadot because I’m also a speaker about social media to small business and this helps to get great testimonials as well as ongoing engagements and reportei because I can create individual data dashboards for clients so they feel like they have access and transparency without me always having to whip up a report.

Okay, had to check out Reportei and I think I’m gonna have to sign up this looks awesome! How often to do generate reports with this tool?
