Social Data

Hi all! We are having trouble finding data on our Facebook events. When we view it in the Meta Business Suite, it just shows a --- instead of an actual number. Is there any way to find the actual number, or does Meta not track event data?

Hello! We use Sprout tags on every post, tagging by department. So, theoretically, our tag report should give a pretty good idea of how well our overall performance is. The engagement rate between the report on “profile performance” versus “tag performance” for the same period and the same platform is VERY different. Can anyone help me understand why this is?

Hey y’all! Every month I put together a social report for our more than 40 channels across FB and Insta. I prioritize metrics like engagement rates and impressions, but with Meta ditching impressions and switching to views it makes me wonder how this shift will impact how performance is truly measured. The inclusion of repeat views for non-video content alters how performance is measured. Inflated view counts could impact CPM metrics, making them appear more favorable without necessarily reflecting higher engagement quality. I would love to understand what everybody thinks of this and pivots made on reporting in order to reflect these changes!

When I look at Engagements in the Performance Summary under Profile Performance and compare it to Engagements in the Paid Performance Summary for Facebook & Instagram Paid Performance, the second number (Engagements in the Paid Performance Summary for Facebook & Instagram Paid Performance) is twice as large as the first number (Engagements in the Performance Summary under Profile Performance). It doesn’t make sense that this number for paid is larger than the number paid + organic (the Engagements in the Performance Summary under Profile Performance includes both paid and organic for Facebook.)Why am I getting numbers that don’t make sense?

Hi everyone! I was recently asked by one of our senior leaders if we can exclude employee engagements from our LinkedIn content to see if we are growing our community outside of our workforce. Has anyone had this question before and if so, how did you approach this?  My understanding is that this would need to be done manually (i.e. going through the reactions, comments and reposts and identifying who is an employee and removing them from the overall engagement metric per post), which would be very time-consuming.  Would love to know if anyone has dealt with something like this before 🙏🏻 Thanks!

For any teams who have added someone to their team from outside the healthcare industry, can you speak to me about resources to help them acclimate to healthcare social media? I know about SHSMD’s intro to healthcare series but that will be too late.

Hi fellow Arb members! I had a question about ways to explore a prospective client’s Instagram followers on a deep level (beyond location, gender, age, and active times) if possible. The agency I work for is pitching this client, so we do not have access to their public Instagram profile or have it connected to Sprout or any other tools for deeper insights. Does anyone know of any tools or any best practices for evaluating their followers (I think they’re most interested in looking into the quality of their followers)? Thank you!

We have set up some VIP lists based on follower counts and some accompanying auto-rules (e.g. auto-tag VIP, auto-assign case to our partnership person, auto-complete), curious if there is a way to export a VIP list so we could have a list of people we have added to this list? Also would be nice to be able to auto-add people to a VIP list based on follower count though from what I have been told this is not a possibility yet due to API limitations.

Hi all! My team and I have been seeing more Instagram story ads that center around a poll, then move you through a form fill. Have any of you used these? If so I’d love to know what were you promoting and get a rough idea for engagement and form fill rates. Thanks!

Hi! I’m curious, for those of you that use the scheduling tool in Sprout that recommends the best times to post, have you found it to be accurate? Or do you find you’ve gotten more engagement with times they don’t list?

So, I was checking my Sprout report for our profile like I always do on Monday and noticed that our Facebook followers dropped 1.4k since December 4. Are they having another purge that I missed? Or is this a blip? I have metrics meeting on Wednesday and would rather not be breathing in a paper bag the entire time.

Hi SMMs! As we get to #2024 wrapped season, I know a lot of us are year end reports and strategies for 2025. My question is, what are you using to create these? So far I have 3 different google docs that are sort of organized chaos of reports and strategies. I was wondering if anyone has found good templates for social media reports, strategies, even camping docs. Thanks!

How is your team positioning the likely drop in reach/engagements on social media due to the intensity of the election season?

These metrics are a result of auto-posting content across ~560 Facebook Pages, YoY. I understand engagements, impressions, and reactions increased because we included more Facebook Pages in our auto-posting throughout the year, which is why I wanted to pull in the average impressions/post, average reach/post, average engagements/post. I am confused on how average engagement rate per reach would increase despite other averages declining?  What might this mean?

With Google (in theory) phasing out third-party cookies on Chrome next year and the impact this may have on Meta’s pixel - is your organisation looking to set up their Conversions API? Or are the costs for setting up server-side tracking prohibitive for you? Have you read any helpful articles on this topic?

Hi Everyone! While I am personally savoring EVERY LAST BIT of summer , the conversations I’ve been having over the past few weeks make it clear that 2025 planning and budgeting season is already upon us!Many of my customers are focusing on business intelligence initiatives for the coming year, discussing the evolving role of social data, and aiming to integrate social data with overarching system data within their BI tools in order to correlate and gain insights from broader data sets.As the role and influence of social media data evolves, I'm eager to hear about your experiences and any best practices you can share!I’d love to poll this group and see if this topic of marrying social and system data is top of mind for your 2025 planning conversations:How has the role of social data changed within your health system, and what obstacles have you encountered along the way? How do you currently socialize data? What tools and strategies are you using to aggregate social data?Looking forward

I work in Higher Ed and when I compare last year’s metrics to this year’s it shows that our Engagement per impressions is up, but our overall engagement is down. This is consistent across all our platforms. Why would this be? Thanks!

Community Question Alert!Today, we’re talking all about data with Jazmin Griffith at our event and we want to hear from you, how you use data to help inform your content creation and audience engagement strategies.  Q:How has social media data analytics influenced your approach to content creation and audience engagement?

Hi all,  previously we used twitter / x business manager to manage multiple client twitter accounts access - it looks like this feature no longer exists and, best practise with sprout is to have separate logins for each customer - is that best practise across agencies and implementations in terms of scalable access or is there another Meta / Google Ads style business manager function that we should look to implement?

Okay video marketers, how are we getting macro views of how our boosted Instagram reels are performing? I’m finding that the video plays and engagement data I get for an Instagram Reel in Sprout does not account for ad center watches. For example, if I look at the last 6 months in Sprout, it shows only 2,869 video views on our Instagram. When I look natively on Instagram, I can see that one individual reel has 9,224 plays. (In “Insights” I can see that this individual reel has 9,224 plays and 5,852 Reach) Yes, this includes boosting of this video. So what I’m trying to figure out is, how to I look globally at my video campaigns and see how they’re doing and set benchmarks when I have to individually go into each video and note the data natively in IG, and usually from my phone?! Am I missing a better way to do this? Thank you!

Is anyone having any luck with gaining competitor insights on LinkedIn? They recently closed their API to third party social tools. I work at an agency and I’m wondering how you approach LinkedIn data during the audit phase.  I’d like to benchmark my client against other similar orgs.
