I’m not one to be idle.  As I was asked to assume the role of “Social Media Guy” in my company with no prior experience, my focus (insistence, really) on education has been effectively non-stop for six years. Endless seminars, webinars, online classes etc for countless subjects, all in an effort not just to excel at my job, but to truly make a difference in the future of my company.  Here’s the problem:  there is precious little “advanced” education out there. The vast majority of online courses are focused - nay fixated - on the basic architecture and implementation of the application, be it Facebook, Instagram, Google Analytics and the like.  I need more, and I know of very few places to get it.    So, far here’s my list of resources I consider potentially “Advanced”:Facebook Ads: Jon Loomer’s “Power Hitters Club”Analytics: Trust Insights “So What” videos on YouTube & measurementmarketing.ioGoogle Ads: CXL.com (Potentially)Copyw

I know there’s been so much talk about how social media can be such a downer and cause depression. It’s all true, but social has some great aspects as well. Such as this story about the 16-year-old that was in danger and was able to use a hand signal to alert someone to her situation.What are some other things you think would be cool to see the industry of social media lean into?

This is a test post to see if this is a viable idea that you all like. The premise is to share the list of questions in a single thread and then people could pick and choose which question to answer. It would also give one thread for people to network and link up on after the webinar, in case they were having cool connections during the session in the replies.But are there too many? I am currently writing a paper for a client for internal use and not for publication. It’s primary function is to be a guide to the most commonly used social media platforms and multi-user chat and messaging apps. And very specifically how they apply to my client’s industry sector - so not just a ‘how to Facebook or Insta’ …I’m covering things like Clubhouse and TikTok too. However, my last section is ‘Emerging New’ . Does anyone remember Bebo? Around 2007/8/9 I had a Bebo account (I also had MySpace etc etc etc too) But Bebo is relaunching as a ‘community app’ and I’ll include it in my paper.So, what’s new in 2022?

Im told this was announced last week, but for those who don’t know I was happily surprised to see Instagram now allows you to post directly via your laptop/desktop browser. A rather Instagram-esque plus sign denotes your ability to perform a heretofore impossible task- save for using Sprout, naturally. I have only tried this using Chrome, and to my elation, multi-format/carousel posts are possible.  Hopefully more functionality will roll out in the foreseeable future, including (and especially) deeper analytics external to Facebook’s option.
